Julia Messenger
Internationally renowned Julia Messenger earns rave reviews around the world for her exquisite vocal technique and ability to get to the heart of a song. Hailing from Melbourne, the versatile singer-songwriter and producer with a mesmerising voice and charismatic stage presence has a busy career in Australia and Europe, and more recently New York, recording and performing everything from jazz, blues and soul to electronica. In Mebourne she is a regular at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club.
"...Messenger's gift is her versatility, the warmth and passion that she brings to each song, and ability to convey the emotions... it takes a brilliant singer like Messenger to make you hear (the songs) as if for the first time." - Stage Whispers
Her songs and productions have appeared on numerous compilations in Europe and America alongside artists such as: Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Moby, Bebel Gilberto, Boozoo Bajou, Nitin Sawhney, Groove Armada, Ursula Rucker, Goldfrapp, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Zero 7, Rae & Christian, Joss Stone, Basement Jaxx, Jamie Callum, Sarah McLachlan and Julee Cruise to name just a few. She has been consistently crowned by many in the U.S. as the ‘Queen of Chill’.She is thrilled to be singing a treat of Jazz standards and classics, alongside Julia's own originals at the Foundry for the first time alongside some of Sydney's greatest musicians: Greg Coffin (piano), Sam Rollings (guitar), Karl Dunnicliff (bass) and Tim Firth (drums). This is a show not to be missed.
