Jazzgroove presents ......
Tuesdays @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Tues 30 June -
8:00pm Wilbur Whitta Trio Wilbur Whitta – piano + 9:30pm The Turtlenecks Jimmy Garden – tenor sax www.facebook.com/wearetheturtlenecks
Making their Jazzgroove debut, Wilbur Whitta Trio’s performance promises to be an electrifying venture into a collection of long-form compositions. With influences being drawn from a wide sphere of genres/artists too numerous to name, the band members aim to ignite a fearsome balance between somewhat complex harmonies and their own delicately formed improvisations.
Nick Henderson – bass
Alex Hirlian – drums
This garment-inspired band from Sydney was established in 2015. Drawing sounds from the likes of Jimmy Smith, John Scofield, and Sydney groove masters Hipflask, this hard‐hitting quartet will get you warm and loose, from the neck down and the chin up. They will play a selection of originals by bandleader Jimmy Garden. Jimmy is a soulful tenor saxophone player originally from New Zealand who will be making his Jazzgroove debut.
Daniel May – organ
Peter Koopman – guitar
Daniel Kennedy – drums and cymbals
What is Jazzgroove?
Jazzgroove is a not for profit organisation presenting high-quality original and improvised music from various jazz related cannons. Our focus is on musicians who are in the early stages of forming a national and international career. Jazzgroove's purpose is to nurture upcoming musicians by allowing a platform and performance opportunity to an established audience through our weekly Tuesday double bill events, marketing/ promotion support while also providing a dialogue and mentorship between past Jazzgroove performers and more experienced musicians.
