Historic Antartica expedition and climate change

Patrick De Deckker, a geologist with a doctorate in zoology from ANU will present some findings from the Belgica expedition to Antarctica in 1897 and how the scientific findings can be used to understand current climate change impacts.

Patrick will present archival materials and photographs to illustrate the expedition’s activities and connect historical data to modern environmental challenges in Antarctica.
