Details
COURSE BRIEFING
· Proceed to the start / finish line (an imaginary line from the red navigation marker off
Lindisfarne Point to the start /finish boat anchored near the yellow buoy near the beach in
Rose Bay). See attached start/finish line diagram.
· A ‘White Flag’ will be raised approx. 30 seconds prior to the start of the event, the dropping
of this flag will signal the start of the Time Trial Event.
· Competitors are to steam out of the bay to the Tasman Bridge (1) passing through the MAST
approved navigation span (Any span excluding the centre and the two spans either side of
the centre span) whilst maintaining a comfortable and safe distance to fellow competitors.
· From the Tasman Bridge (2) competitors are to head down river to John Garrow Light (3) (off
Sandy Bay Point)
· Short Course participants are to head for White Rock Point (7) once past John Garrow Light
(3) and round the MYCT Rescue 1 Course Boat located approximately 100m of the shore line
of White Rock Point.
· From White Rock Point (7) competitors are then to make their way to Tranmere Point (8)(to
a Red/Orange Buoy approx. 100m off the shore line.)
· Once passed the Red/Orange Buoy at Tranmere Point (8) follow the eastern shore keeping
permanent yachting markers B2 (9) and B1 (10) to port while navigating back to the Tasman
Bridge (2) passing under and back into Lindisfarne Bay across the start finish line.
· Upon completion of the course pass by the start/finish boat in order to ensure you have had
you boat and time check by the organisers on board the start boat.
· Long course participants are to continue down river from John Garrow Light (3) and turn at
the Iron Pot (4) ensuring to keep to the seaward side (do not cut through the shallows).
· Heading to the north end of Betsey Island (5) and rounding in a clockwise direction ensuring
to include Little Betsey (6) (Small Island to the south of Betsey Island) in the
circumnavigation.
· After rounding the Iron Pot (4) on the return and heading back up river competitors are to
pass White Rock Point (7) and then make their way to Tranmere Point (8)(to a Red/Orange
Buoy approx. 100m off the shore line.)
· Once passed the Red/Orange Buoy at Tranmere Point (8) follow the eastern shore keeping
permanent yachting markers B2 (9) and B1 (10) to port while navigating back to the Tasman
Bridge (2) passing under and back into Lindisfarne Bay across the start finish line.
· Upon completion of the course pass by the start/finish boat in order to ensure you have had
you boat and time check by the organisers on board the start boat.
· NOTE: Within the Hobart area there is a 50m exclusion zone around passenger ships,
warships, and tankers.
