Trioflight Album Launch: “Rumour Of Forests And Waves”

+ Jo Fabro supporting

“Having the right chemistry is the first most important thing for a band. It’s also the most elusive, and it’s fair to say that Trioflight have found a special synergy together.” Dave Goodman, drums.

Joining Goodman is highly respected jazz pianist Nick Southcott and outstanding young double bass player Max Alduca.

Dave is the drummer with some of Australia’s most important jazz ensembles including Ten Part Invention, and the Kevin Hunt Trio, and has had a close musical and personal association with Nick for over 20 years.

“Dave and I had talked about putting a group together for some time,” says Nick, “but we weren’t sure who would complete the group. When we had the opportunity to play with Max back at the old Dome Bar jam in 2013, I think we realized straight away that we had found our man. There was a great rapport, even at that initial stage.”

Trioflight have a uniquely intuitive approach, with an emphasis on beautiful melodies and free-flowing spontaneity.

For this concert, they will be presenting music from their new CD, “The Rumour Of Forests And Waves”. A wide range of influences inspired Trioflight’s compositions, including the natural Australian landscape, deep emotional explorations, and abstract mathematical concepts. Also on the CD are a selection of improvised pieces, some captured live and raw in the studio, and some which have evolved into more sophisticated compositions.

You can hear their perpetual creative process in action tonight at the Foundry616 concert, as Trioflight continues their musical exploration.
