Irish Mythen – Australian Tour 2015
With Special Guest Cass Eager
Think back to a time in your life when you heard music that was so powerful and beautiful you were instantly engaged. That’s the experience many audiences have on first hearing Irish/Canadian folk artist Irish Mythen - an experience in the joy of everything. Her music is the root of small communities and the strength of a loyal fan base.
Irish is a true entertainer who is known for her gripping live performances. She is the storyteller who will grasp your attention and who will bring you on an incredible and emotional journey - as well as the comedian with a joie de vivre who’ll have you laughing from the very beginning until long after she’s left the bandstand.
This 2015 (Canadian) East Coast Music Association winner was born and raised in Wexford County Ireland, Irish Mythen has travelled the globe playing in Europe, Australia, the Middle East and the UK. Home is now Canada’s East Coast (Prince Edward Island).
During her travels she has worked with a host of world-renowned artists like Tom Paxton, The Dubliners and The Pogues. She shared stages with Emmylou Harris, Gordon Lightfoot, and Peter Yarrow, to name but a few.
Since her immigration to Canada in 2008 Irish has been honored to create music and memories with Gordie Sampson, Joel Plaskett, Ron Hynes, Matt Andersen, Bruce Guthro and Dave Gunning. She has become an admired and respected artist on the Canadian scene.
Irish has proudly produced two EPs — Appreciate (2004) and Fallen Me (2006), as well as three full-length releases to her name — Sweet Necessity (2008), Open Here (2011) and Irish Mythen (2014). Open Here was nominated for the 2012 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) Roots Traditional Recording of the Year. Her latest, self-titled album won her an ECMA in the same category in April 2015.

Cass Eager
Named by folk-blog Timber and Steel as ‘Janis Joplin and Ben Harper’s love-child’, Cass Eager’s mix of raw blues, husky soul and lighthearted ditties are all punctuated with her unique whisky-soaked vocals. Emotive, slightly raspy, at times tender and at times powerful – Eager’s voice is the driving force of her music.
Internationally-renowned but defiantly grassroots, Cass Eager is one of those rare artists that’s mastered everything from the foot-stomping blues to a sensual slow burner. She’s been called ‘one of the best female singers in Australia’ by Richard Glover (ABC), and even Diesel claims she could ‘sing the phone book to you and you wouldn’t get bored’.
Eager’s music has taken her to some of the world’s far-flung and unexpected places and afforded her some incredible experiences. Performing ‘tours of duty’ for the Australian Army troops she’s been to Egypt, East Timor, the Middle East and the Solomon Islands. She’s also travelled through North America and Canada on multiple tours. A finalist for best band and best vocalist in the Australian Blues Music ‘Chain’ Awards and Blues/Roots category of MusicOz Awards, the band’s latest release ‘Down On My Knees’ was voted ‘Top 10 Album’ of the year in Rhythms Magazine.
