Gai Bryant's Palacio de la Rumba - 'Talking in Cuban' CD Launch

“Gai is a particularly fine & subtle arranger. Her original music oft has a simultaneously ‘spare’, yet ‘richly orchestral’ quality.”
– ABC Radio National

Making a striking and very memorable debut at Foundry616 for the 2014 Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival, Gai Bryant’s 18-piece big band returns with it's fiery exuberance, passion and finesse - inspiration from traditional Cuban music and jazz - rumba, danzón, bolero and punto libre to celebrate their CD launch.

Palacio de la Rumba merges the cream of Sydney’s Latin and jazz music communities. The combination of musicians has allowed Gai to combine complex rhythmic layering with the excitement of strong jazz solos.

John Hoffman (conductor); Gai Bryant, Julian Gough, Paul Cutlan, Craig Walters and Mark Ginsburg (saxes); Warwick Alder, Eamon Dilworth,
Darryl Carthew, Lee McIver (trumpets); James Greening, Danny Carmichael, Paul Webber and Rod Herbert (trombones); Alister Spence (piano);
Jeremy Sawkins (guitar); Lloyd Swanton (bass); Fabian Hevia (drums) and Giorgio Rojas (percussion)

Don’t miss this remarkable night of Cuban music styles with plenty of room for dancing!
