The Jessica Stuart Few (Canada)

THE PASSAGE AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2016

“The JS Few mix musicality, humour, (great) voice, creativity, rhythm, folk, and jazz into their songs. However, unlike many other acts that boast similar qualities, the music remains accessible, warm and unpretentious… Now picture someone playing the Koto brilliantly with furiously fast fingers, while singing in perfect pitch, complemented by a solid backline of bass and drums. Different, and shockingly good.” - Andy Frank, Roots Music Canada

Canada’s own “Koto-toting folk-jazz power trio” - THE JESSICA STUART FEW - will return to Australia in March for a national tour to coincide with the release of their majestic new album The Passage.

After a debut tour of Australia in early 2015 (including Festival Headliner performances), and followed by tours through Japan & China, The Jessica Stuart Few found time back home to record their third album, The Passage.

An impressive follow-up to the critically acclaimed trio’s previous award winning releases: Kid Dream (2010), Two Sides To Every Story (2014 ‘Best Album’ Award - International Music Awards) and Japanese Top 40 single, Don’t Ya, The Passage looks set to put The JS Few back on the map once more.Spellbinding from the first listen, The Passage features the infectious singles Easier Said Than Done, the Stereolab feel of Lost Friends & charmingslow burner The Letter, as well as a couple of tracks directly inspired by her travels last year in Australia, One Day and Passage, both written based on birdsongs from NSW.

The Jessica Stuart Few has captivated live audiences around the world with their quirky mélange of folk, jazz, rock & soul. A consummate guitarist, Jessica also amazes when she (so effortlessly) weaves her magic over her Japanese 13-stringed harp (Koto). With her pitch perfect vocals & storytelling, backed up by double bass & drums, it’s easy to see why The JS Few resonate with critics & music lovers alike.

“…Jessica Stuart’s guitar groove & koto mastery, songs about procrastination, perseverance & needing two pairs of mitts in those cold Toronto winters are fine indeed…. Jazzy, rootsy, folky, words flowing over the chords & the swing & fingers flying over the koto…”James Reaney, London Free Press (live show review)
