Americana Sweethearts, The Weeping Willows (Vic) have recently returned from Los Angeles where they recorded their sophomore album with four time Grammy award-winning engineer, Ryan Freeland (Bonnie Raitt, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Ray LaMontagne, Ramblin' Jack Elliott). The Willows’ second album, Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’, delves further into the Gothic depths of Americana with the help of renowned Alt-Country musicians from around the world, hand-picked to leave all the right gaps and spaces.
The Weeping Willows will be joined by local Alt-Country darling, Katie Brianna, to help celebrate the release of their new album.
“The Weeping Willows take us back to what is beautiful about traditional country music: tender harmonies, wonderful guitar picking and lovingly crafted songs.” ~Les Thomas, ‘Unpaved’ (unpaved.com.au)
"This is music that mixes songwriting, storytelling, virtuosic playing and the simple delight of two perfectly matched voices singing in harmony to excellent effect." ~Chris Familton, ‘Post to Wire’ (posttowire.com)
“The Weeping Willows – a new duo that draws inspiration from the fragile, Gospel-tinged work of Johnny and June Cash as well as more modern boy-girl outfits like The Handsome Family or Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings…” ~’Pearl’ Magazine.
