Matt Ross is an Americana powerhouse based in the Inner West of Sydney, playing guitar and singing a range of Australian blues, country and soul music. Matt Ross started his musical career playing guitar in and around the Balmain Blues scene in the late 80’s / early 90’s with the band ‘Beachhead’ with musicians including Harry Brus from the Renee Geyer Band and Matt Dwyer from the Bondi Cigars. Matt’s expertise in Guitar playing, led him to forge a career in Blues, Soul and Country music. He continues to play with leading blues & roots artists including Alison Penny, PJ O’Brien, Mark Evans, Harry Brus. Matt Ross has been the Musical Director for Country Music Starmaker 2011 Winner, Luke Dickens for the last 2 years, both travelling to Nashville US, launching a successful duo performance and band on their return for Luke Dicken’s music. Matt penned the title track to Luke Dickens 2012 album ‘Devil in the Wind’, about the Qld Floods with further credits to Matt on this album. Matt showcases 20 years of musical experience, culminating in a performance style that ranges from low-down traditional delta blues to sweet country and Rhythm & Blues. This will be the first time Matt has played at Hotel Blue, the 'Home of the Blues' and we are excited to welcome a fellow 'blues brother' home! 6:30-8:30pm, live in the attic, bar & kitchen open. $15 per person.
A long time friend and fellow 'blues brother', Cletis Carr, will be performing in the lounge beforehand to get y'all into the spirit. 4:30-6:30pm, free event.
