A fresh look at Australia’s climate change policies

The Climate Change Authority is the Australian Government’s independent climate change advisor.

The Authority is conducting a Special Review on the range of policies Australia could use to meet its emissions reduction goals to 2030 and beyond. Emissions trading is one important option, and it can take many forms. Other policies include support for renewable energy and energy efficiency, investment in low emissions technology and mandatory standards for appliance or vehicles.

The Authority will release its final report in June 2016.

The Authority is keen to hear from communities, businesses and individuals, as part of a national conversation about the right policy toolkit for Australia.

Two of the report’s drafters, Angela Hoefnagels and Alexandria Rantino, will be at the Newcastle City Hall on 5 April 2016. They’ll talk about the Authority’s report and answer your questions about climate policy. This event is also an opportunity for you to contribute your views.

We hope you can make it.
