International Needs Australia and Unshackled invite you to a screening of Girl Rising.

Girl Rising is a film about nine unforgettable girls striving beyond circumstances, pushing past limits - spotlighted in a film about the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.

It was released in March 2013 and highlights the story of nine girls from developing countries - Afghanistan, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Nepal, Peru and Sierra Leone.

Educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation. Educated girls stand up for their rights, marry and have children later, educate their own children and their families and communities thrive. Yet millions of girls around the world face barriers to education that boys do not.

Removing barriers such as early marriage, gender-based violence, domestic slavery and sex trafficking means not only a better life for girls, but a safer, healthier and more prosperous world for all.

Join us to watch this moving film at 7.15pm on Tuesday 17th May 2016 at New Hope Community Centre, 3 Springfield Rd, Blackburn North.

With special guest Rev Justus Miwanda, Director of International Needs Uganda who will share his experience of how girl's and women's empowerment can break the cycle of poverty.

Tickets: $22 for Adults, $15 for children
