Event Details

The goal of the training is to help teachers develop their use of emotional intelligence within learning environments. The program includes several activities and discussion that require participants to reflect on their use of emotional intelligence in their practice. These include:

- brainstorming the qualities of emotionally intelligent teachers
- identifying examples of using emotional intelligence
- considering how participants relate to their students
- developing self awareness of feelings, values, attitudes and behaviours when teaching
- recognising prejudices and preferences
- exploring personal mindsets and motivators

The program outline is as follows:

Session 1: Qualities of an Emotionally Intelligent Teacher, Relating to Learners
Session 2: Developing Self Awareness (Feelings, Values, Attitudes, Behaviours), Recognising Prejudices and Preferences
Session 3: Shaping and Handling Your Feelings, The Keys to Self-Motivation
Session 4: Building Social Connections, Practicing Emotional Intelligence

The training will conclude with the development of an action plan that will assist participants develop their emotional intelligence through practice, peer discussion and personal reflection.
