A kaleidoscopic show that opens a window to a colourful, magical, musical adventure, and as in Alice in Wonderland, absolutely anything goes.
The Bluesy, raunchy soundscapes of Nina Simone, the mastery and art of Billie Holiday, the iconic mindful delivery of Ella Fitzgerald, the heart wrenching Chansons of Edith Piaf, all suitably cooked and garnished with the witty, charming and sometimes saucy songs and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Michel Legrand, Jack Brel, Django Reinhardt, Blossom Dearie…
And the Razzamatazz? indeed, a feast for mind, body and soul, with hot Brazilian dance tunes, Sephardic and Spanish tangos, French Java and waltz…
Dahlia interpretes the music of the greats with added stories from her experience, traveling the world for many years, helped by “hot” musicians: Marcello Maio (piano, accordion), Mark Harris (bass), Nic Cecire (drums), Ross Harrington (sax, clarinet)
"The Gallic tradition of torch songs, cabaret songs, Gypsy songs, opera and jazz is as rich as béchamel sauce, and Dahlia Dior gave us the full gamut…
Dior's special gift is to animate not just her face and the lyrics, but the stage and the whole room. With eyes like rising suns she charmed with demureness one moment, beguiled with raunchiness the next…This was Dior's night: as effervescent as champagne”.
John Shand - The Sydney Morning Herald
