The Nature Strip launch third album Beetle Bones with special guests Bernie Hayes Quartet.
The purple patch of Sydney’s premier guitar pop group The Nature Strip continues with third album Beetle Bones, released in August and launched at Camelot on 1 September. Produced by the group’s two songwriters John Encarnacao (mostly guitar) and Pete Marley (mostly bass), the group is completed by Matt Langley (mostly keyboards) and Jess Ciampa (drums); Ciampa is the well-known and loved Camelot constant who plays with Monsieur Camembert, Jeff Duff’s Bowie Unzipped and umpteen other acts. Jess and John also play in Camelot faves, XTC tribute band Scarecrow People, and The Nature Strip is recommended for fans of XTC, Talking Heads, Blondie, The Cars and indeed Bowie.
Very, very special guests for this show are the Bernie Hayes Quartet. Bernie is one of Australia’s best-loved singer-songwriters - covered by The Whitlams, his songs a presence on Radio National, blessed with an exceptional voice and a way with a lyric that strikes at the heart. Though he’s been playing solo and with the Dead Marines, the quartet has not performed live for over a year, and so it is with great excitement that The Nature Strip welcomes their China Pig Records stablemates back to the stage.
This is a double bill of superlative songwriting talent and pop group magic not to be missed.
