QPS will once again bring their dirty swamp magic to shirk those blues, with horns that scream straight into your soul, a rhythm section borne of cut-throat jazz swagger, a banjo that can exorcise demons on the wrong side of midnight & the seduction of a ukulele songstress upfront.
Mexican Mariarchi, desert plains country, & snippets of flamenco, Dusty Ravens desert plains sound has been described as Willie Nelson meets Tom Waits.
Here is a unique sort of soulful and sassy package of blues and roots: Open it! Bonnie Kay, a contemporary American singer/songwriter from Philly who landed in Australia via Tokyo, uses acoustic, finger-picking, slide-guitar techniques, plus a voice reminiscent of blues icon Bonnie Raitt's, to deliver her own red-hot, sexy sound.
Her Bonafide companions? Sometimes smooth and jazzy, sometimes gritty and raw- taking the dance to a sobbing heap on the floor and then lifting it up into a foot-stomping, hollering hootenanny . It’s a Bonafide Band with a capital B!
