South Coast groovemeisters The Escalators are on a musical mission with a simple mantra: Come Together!

Kingstudio in MacLean will be the perfect venue for doing just that on Sunday September 11.

This tour is all about connection,” says guitarist Lachlan Mackenzie. “We carefully selected venues whose philosophy we respect, because they enrich their communities through art & culture.”

The Escalators remember their concert at Kingstudio in 2015 as the highlight of their tour.

“Spaces like Kingstudio are the future of live music,” says Lachlan. “It is a return to the old-fashioned recipe of great music in venues with spirit. People reconnecting with the magic of live music in intimate spaces.”

With more grooves than a record store, The Escalators tip their fedoras to the sophistication of Swing, the funk of New Orleans, & the rhythmic pulse of Jamaica. The Escalators cross-pollinate great jazz standards with groove-driven genres, and graft original compositions onto their swing, soul & reggae roots.

The Escalators have two studio releases ‘Felix’ (2014) & ‘From The Hip’ (2016) which you can stream right from their website. The success of these 2 CDs has inspired extensive East Coast travels, earned prestigious invitations to Noosa Jazz & Manly Jazz Festivals, & a #1 song on Triple J Unearthed!

After hundreds of shows together, The Escalators have a shared musical intuition that can hold listeners spell-bound in a ‘hear-a-pin-drop’ concert, or have the floorboards heaving under the weight of unhinged dancing.

The gorgeous tone of Jenny Blunden's voice will embrace you & steal your heart. Lachlan Mackenzie’s guitar weaves with pick-pocket grace through a rhythmic framework rich in interplay between Bradley Parson's upright bass & the drum kit captained by Hayden Moore.

Kingstudio is the latest incarnation of 'Giraween', a distinctive 19th century country residence overlooking the Clarence River, that is, for artists Malcolm King and Julie McKenzie, both home & studio. They are inviting you to share their gallery space for an intimate concert.

“Sharing music with people who have come together, heart & mind, makes it more meaningful & rewarding for everyone,” says singer Jenny Blunden.

“On this tour we are consciously supporting the venues that we want to see more of, and we can’t wait to meet the music lovers of MacLean & beyond.”

Tickets to this intimate show are strictly limited so book early at www.stickytickets.com.au.
