Zac Gunthorpe will be promoting his second single ‘High On The Mountain’ from his debut album Glory Bound at The Bison Bar on Saturday 20th August.

Since the release of his EP ‘Long Lost Love Lies’ in 2012 and now ‘Glory Bound’ (2015), constant gigging has seen Gunthorpe become an engaging live performer, and the young Queenslander has honed his already impressive song writing skills to a knives edge. His song writing has maturity well beyond his years, as Gunthorpe’s balladering style has scaled new heights in telling emotional tales of love and loss. ‘Glory Bound’ was recorded completely live in producer Andrew Morris’s studio at the Church Farm in Northern NSW. Gunthorpe called on members of his favourite bands to back him on his rollicking rootsrock debut.

He enlisted members of The Wilson Pickers, The Gin Club, Mexico City and The Living End to create a formidable back up band to flesh out his already artfully crafted compositions.

‘Glory Bound’ showcases a young songwriter on the rise.

The second single High on the Mountain is a song inspired by the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Set amongst rolling hills, wine vineyards, weeping fig trees and moments of love abound. It’s Backed by a feverous Australian folk rock sound reflecting the likes of Gangagang and Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, bringing the mountainous lyrical imagery to life. Martin Jones of Australia’s Rhythms Magazine reviewed the song as “An uplifting triumph”.

High on the Mountain is a love song as enthralling as a first kiss and as pure as the truest of love.

Sunshine Coast based Indie/ Folk duo Tuskk, featuring singer-songwriters Rhiannon Mallet and Tamsyn Burness join Zac at this intimate afternoon show for the release of their debut EP.

Doors from 3pm.
