The mission of Borderless Gandhi is to promote peace, nonviolence and equality through artistic reflections on the life, work and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. Portraying him as a global icon not tied to any specific nation, community or faith, the project aims to present a series of events and exhibitions.

This year, Borderless Gandhi is launched in Australia with “Borderless Gandhi presents Mahatma in me”, an exhibition by Delhi based artist Vibhor Sogani. Exhibits produced in stainless steel will be installed at Elizabeth Quay in front of the Bell Tower in Perth, Western Australia. The exhibits reflect the inward qualities we all carry with us.

Each of the installations humbly aims to provoke self- realisation through inner reflection, and will be free to attend by the public for a full month, opening on 2nd Oct 2016, Gandhi´s birthday and International Day of Nonviolence. The exhibition will be surrounded by additional local contributions, such as visual arts, music, yoga and dance.

Borderless Gandhi is founded by Nilesh Makwana and Lene Makwana, and is run by them and their enthusiastic team of volunteers. The project is supported by the Government of Western Australia, City of Perth and the Government of India.
