In their final program of the year, the Strelitzia Ensemble presents two masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire alongside the premiere of a brand new Trio for Horn, Violin and Piano.

Mozart’s Horn Quintet is one of his most glorious chamber works and somewhat of a miniature Horn concerto, scored for the unusual yet beautifully mellow combination of Violin, two Violas and Cello. Compared to Mozart, Tchaikovsky wrote comparatively little chamber music, but his Souvenir de Florence, composed during his last visit to his beloved Florence in 1890, has become one of the stalwarts of the repertoire, full of infectious melodies, lush romanticism and boundless energy. We are also very excited to be ending the year with a premiere of This Time of Light by Australian composer Alan Holley, and to be joined by Sydney Symphony Principal Horn Robert Johnson for this concert.
