Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are now held on the second Saturday of the month at 2:30pm pm to 4:30 pm, with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Vespertine Gardens
Let's make March Extra-Ordinary!
Our feature this March is Krystle Herdy!
Krystle Herdy (she/her) is a queer, disabled poet and editor based in Naarm. She wrote a
short story at age seven that made her mum cry, and has been writing ever since. Critics
beyond her family have described her poetry as bold, fresh, and unflinchingly vulnerable in
its attention to the fragile ways we reach for connection.
Her first poetry collection, Mythology Mechanic, was published while she was still an
undergraduate. Her work has appeared in Australian and international journals, and in 2025
she won the June Shenfield National Poetry Award.
Currently at work on her next collection, Krystle sees poetry as a way to explore and
untangle life’s contradictions—an art form that creates room for both precision and
ambiguity, structure, and chaos, all at once.
Further information on our venue:
We are in discussion with the library about using the space there from May to December. For now, however, we are exploring other locations in Dandenong!
Additional information:
This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Stickytickets, as the Gardens (or other venue) will continue to be open to the general public. Therefore, open-mic and feature presenters are asked to keep their works in the 'PG' range for this event.
Perc.U.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of local women and gender-diverse poets and other marginalised voices.
Perc.U.lations is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we extend our respect to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.
