Inertia Music and Collective Artists are pleased to present Australian native and Californian resident Hazel English's debut Australian shows this January, 2017. After a meteoric rise through the blogosphere with the support of trailblazing champions Gorilla vs Bear, Stereogum and The Line Of Best Fit and having reached an accumulative three million streams+ online, the world is catching onto Hazel’s beautifully blurry indie-pop aesthetic.

Growing up in Sydney and spending time in Melbourne before relocating to newly adopted home in Oakland CA, the 25-year-old’s music reflects this movement in her life - she describes her sound as “transportive; it makes you feel like you’re in a different place”. Musically, she's drawn comparisons to fellow dream-pop crafters from Alvvays, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and touring partners Ride, while her hypnotic vocal arrangements have been likened to everyone from Grimes to DIIV.
Having released five tracks in little over two months - packaged as the Never Going Home EP - Hazel’s songs are are charming, bittersweet, deeply personal yet very relatable, and have already earned her an impressive string of accolades. “Make It Better” premiered via Stereogum, who labelled her one of their 40 Best Bands of 2016, and has since been added to spot rotation on triple j. “Never Going Home” and “It’s Not Real” were first premiered in demo-form via her Soundcloud and have since clocked up over a million listens between them, making her something of an online sensation before she was even signed. “Control” was given Annie Mac’s seal of approval via a ‘New Name’ feature on BBC Radio 1. “I’m Fine” charted at #1 on Hype Machine upon release.
Hazel is an artist for whom the visuals and music go hand in hand - meticulously clad head-to-toe in a seemingly endless supply of op-shop finds, a glance at any of Hazel’s social networks reveals a vivid portal into her timeless world where sun-bleached snaps bely a million possible stories. Having spent 2016 writing, recording and touring extensively in the US, get to know Hazel English ahead of new music early 2017.
