Music Inspired by the Natural Environment
Presented by Musica Viva In Schools in association with Four Winds Bermagui

Enjoy the interconnectedness of music and nature. See and hear once again through the eyes and ears of a child -the wonder of plants, birds, animals, the sea, sky and clouds. Participants will develop skills in extracting musical material and inspiration from the natural environment in ways both educational and fun for students.

Presenter David Hewitt is a member of Musica Viva In Schools’ ensemble, Zeeko. David is an internationally renowned percussionist, vocalist, composer improviser, educator and a multi-disciplinary performer. He is a co-creator of the category-defying outfit ‘The Spaghetti Western Orchestra’ which has appeared at Montreal International Jazz Festival and gained five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has taught at Victorian College of the Arts, Macquarie University Queensland and Newcastle Conservatoriums, and the University of Western Sydney. David has a long history with Musica Viva In Schools, having developed programs for and performed with B’tutta, Zeeko and is a founding member of Taikoz.
