FUNDRAISER FOR MEDICAL AID TO PALESTINE
Join us for a powerful night of music, film, and conversation in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
This special event aims to bring our community together with the art of storytelling through music and film — with 100% of ticket proceeds going directly to vital humanitarian aid for the people of Palestine.
The evening begins with a live performance from Elar3I, a Palestinian independent artist who disrupts narratives to create a new moment with his voice and music along with an incredilby moving performance from the SING FOR PALESTINE choir.
Next is a screening of acclaimed feature film, DAMAGE, a deeply human story set against the backdrop of global conflict, DAMAGE follows two strangers struggling to maintain control of their lives as they slowly discover that what connects them is stronger than what divides them.
“We completed making DAMAGE in 2022 but its relevance keeps increasing. A few minutes into the film a taxi driver listens to an American voice on the car radio: ‘We’re going to take out seven countries in five years… starting with Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and finishing off Iran…’ All this has come to pass with wars on many fronts. But DAMAGE is a film of deep humanity, about two people who realise what they have in common is stronger than what keeps them apart. I hope it speaks to you at a time when we need the courage to seek the truth amongst the lies.” - Director, Madeleine Blackwell.
Following the screening we will host a conversation with the film's writer/director and keynote speakers. Together, they will reflect on the themes of the film, the current moment, and the role that art, community and the power of our voice has in times of conflict.
100% of proceeds from this event will go directly to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people, through PANZMA Palestine Australia New Zealand Medical Association.
The Palestinian Australian New Zealand Medical Association (PANZMA) is a non-profit organisation providing health and humanitarian support to Palestinians affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. PANZMA believes that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right.
We hold this event on the unceded lands of the Kaurna people. We acknowledge the ancient history of stories, traditions and living cultures of the Kaurna people on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.
