Sydney rock band Girls on The Avenue represents a busy intersection of musical histories and preoccupations. Long-time singer-songwriters Tania Bowra and Mel Forbes have performed and collaborated with local notables like Wendy Matthews, Jenny Morris, Jimmy Little, Stiff Gins.. and ‘internationals’ Air Supply, Eddi Reader, Jimmy Webb among others. Drummer Julia Day’s steady hand has galvanised the sounds of many great Australian artists - Robyn Dunn, Geoff Achison, Ursula Yovich among others. Trumpeter Minnie Ryan (Green Hand Band, The Vegas Nerve), and bassist Rachel Aracan in turn make up a sound that's harmony rich, rhythm replete and makes your heart dance somehow!
