Y era un viernes 20 de Julio del año de 1810, día de mercado en Santafé de Bogotá, cuando un criollo fue a pedir prestado un florero. Un acto, en apariencia efímero, desencadenó un enfrentamiento entre criollos y españoles, que sellaría definitivamente la independencia de Colombia en la gloriosa batalla del Puente de Boyacá el día 7 de Agosto de 1819.

Hoy mas de 200 años después, nuestras almas y comunidad aquí en el otro lado del charco se une para alzar juntos de nuevo ese grandioso Grito de independencia de Espana.

We invite and welcome all nationalities to be part of this celebration and exploration of Colombian passions.

An event presented during the day and night to include a remarkable experience of music, food, market inspired stalls, dancers and top Exhibition of Melbourne Colombian artists.

Latin American communities throughout Victoria come together to celebrate in true Latin American passion, the country that is Colombia & to pay homage to a place that makes Latin America amazing.

Colombia declared independence from Spain in July 1810 and achieved it in 1819. Regional cultural traditions can be diverse; groups can be classified into six regions: amazonica, andina, caribe, insular, orinoquia and pacifica. Only during elections, sporting events, and beauty pageants do the regional cultures unite for a common goal or party ... or to celebrate the anniversary of independence from Spain!

A special festival style celebration at the convenient location of the Fitzroy Town Hall’ on July 22nd 2017 means all of Melbourne have the chance to be a part of this Latin American experience.
