Advanced Design Skills Course with Robyn Francis,  July 24-27, 2017

Want to become a professional permaculture designer?

This course is for people who are seriously interested in permaculture design and consulting work, and also highly recommended for permaculture teachers and people designing their own property.
Learn the tricks of trade from one of permaculture’s leading designers and educators, Robyn Francis.
In 4 intensive days you will learn how to draw up professional designs, deal confidently with clients, cost jobs and prepare bills of quantity, present reports and get your consultancy practice going.

This course is for people who have already completed a full Permaculture Design Course (PDC).

Topics include:

  • Spectrum of permaculture consultancy work
  • Designers tool kit & bag of tricks
  • Design Process and Methodologies
  • Preparing base plans and essential surveying skills
  • Drafting and drawing skills: standard symbols, drawing to scale
  • Language of design, concepts, details and construction drawings
  • Client communications, briefs and contracts
  • Preparing bills of quanitity, costs and quotes
  • Planning implementation
  • Developing bioregional resource networks
  • Presenting reports: electronic and paper documentation
  • Use of computer software for reports and design
  • Establishing a permaculture design consultancy

Participants will receive a comprehensive course handbook and templates for site assessments, client briefs, implementation plans and other aspects of professional permaculture design consulting.

You will learn how to use simple equipment to hand-draw professional designs and introduced to ways to use basic computer software to enhance your work. 

Certification: Participants who successfully complete the course requirements will be issued with a Permaculture College Australia Certificate of Completion.

Tutor:
Robyn Francis is an internationally acclaimed permaculture designer, educator and pioneer. Her work has ranged from urban edible landscapes, community farms and rural property design through to ecovillage, intentional community and eco-development consultations around the world. She has been teaching permaculture and PDCs since 1984 and specialist advanced permaculture and professional development courses including the Advanced Design Skills courses for over 20 years. As one of the key designers of the Accredited Permaculture Training Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications she is committed to improving the quality of permaculture education and consulting services and building the professional capacity of permaculture practitioners.

The course is held at Djanbung Gardens near Nimbin NSW, designed by Robyn Francis as an inspiring living learnscape of permaculture in practice.

You will need to bring:
Artline drawing pens or fine felt-tip pens 0.4 and 0.2; clutch pencil; scale ruler (1:100, 1:200, 1:500), set square, drawing compass, protractor, eraser, circle template, A4 graph paper, A4 tracing paper, blank white paper or drawing book, colour pencils/felt pens, tape measure, clip board, and other useful drawing equipment you might have. Also bring examples of any design work you have done and your laptop.  Bring a USB drive to tap into our extensive collection of e-resources.

COURSE FEE: $595 
Course fee covers all tuition, free camping on site, lunches, morning and afternoon tea and one evening meal. There is a communal kitchen on site for preparing breakfast & other evening meals or there are cafe’s in the village (a 10 min walk away)

REFUND POLICY
If you cancel your booking more than 2 weeks before the course commencement date you will receive a refund of fees paid minus a $200 administration fee.
Cancellations 5 to 14 days prior to course commencement you will be refunded 50% of the course fee.
Cancellations less than 5 days prior to course commencement date you will be refunded 30% of the course fee.
