Death Rides a Horse, but it has a great soundtrack.

Sydney’s favourite outlaw country inspired, mariachi infused band, Dusty Ravens, are back to launch their second album Low Down Jimmy.

“Low Down Jimmy is the sound of desperate souls, desert dust, sin and salvation…a 40-minute lost soundtrack to a visual anthology of the west.”

“The two obvious reference points are the Mexicali sounds of Calexico and Morricone’s western soundtracks, yet the band add their own distinct stylings to the mix, with shades of gothic cow-punk (The Gun Club etc) in the foreboding subject matter and often shadowy atmosphere.”

Chris Familton, Rhythms Magazine

The vocal confessionals and pogroms about choices made, good and bad, are wrapped up in a horn driven Mexican whirlwind and baked solid by the sun and the heat. The buzzards circle and the vultures eye a dry and unforgiving land, where trouble and redemption go hand in hand. Lost loves, lonesome trails, with heroes and villains and songs of longing and loss populate this atmospheric landscape.

Songs from the saddle and the jail cell. Regret? Sure, Redemption, sometimes. Entertainment, ear worms, and tunes you can whistle? Definitely.

Very special guests The Tall Grass will be opening the night.
