subbed in presents a writing workshop with Dave Drayton

“Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage” Smashing Pumpkins vocalist, Billy Corgan

“I'm coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine” The Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers

“Oulipians: rats who must build the labryinth from which they propose to escape” Oulipo founder, Raymond Queneau

This workshop will work through a series of constrained writing practices inspired by the Oulipo in order to furnish participants with a variety of approaches to try when confronted with the terror of the blank page.

Constraints/themes covered include exercises in style (inspired by Queneau’s instrumental collection), lipograms, waterfalls, beau presents, analytic definitions, N+7, and more.

Date: Saturday 29th July 2017, 1-3pm.

Location: Frontyard Projects, 228 Illawarra Rd, Marrickville, NSW 2204.

It is free to participate but numbers are limited (20 person capacity). Bookings essential.

Drinks and refreshments will be provided.

Please bring:

  • Some paper (blank, gridded, or lined is fine)
