Topic: Conducting hearings by arbitration under Part 5 of the Civil Procedure Act: Some practical tips from a Local Court Arbitrator
John is a solicitor with more than 30 years’ experience in commercial litigation practice. He is an NMAS-accredited mediator, a member of the Australian Dispute Resolution Network, a sessional lecturer in law and a PhD candidate at the University of New South Wales. John holds a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from UNSW and is a member of Resolution Institute and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. His research is in the area of lawyers’ engagement with court-connected mediation. He is a regular contributor to peer reviewed DR journals
Dr Bin Li, Lecturer Newcastle Law SchoolTopic: Cultural Issues in Negotiation and Mediation
Bin joined Newcastle Law School as a Lecturer in January 2016 and he teaches and conducts research in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Public International Law at Newcastle Law School. He previously worked as an academic at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics School of Law (Beihang University School of Law) in Beijing, China where he taught some core and elective courses including Public International Law, International Commercial Arbitration and Aviation and Space Law. In 2012, Bin was awarded Beihang University Teaching Award and Xifei Outstanding Teaching Award.
