The World War of 1914-1918 affected all Australians and decisively changed the new nation.  They were 'The crying years' according to writer Zora Cross, whose brother was killed in 1917.   Peter Stanley's latest book evokes the tragedy, sacrifice and pain of Australia's Great War through photographs, posters, cartoons, documents and artefacts.

Join Professor Stanley, UNSW Canberra, and military historian Dr Michael McKernan as they take an in-depth look at the book's stories and images of war, from both the battlefields and the home front.
