'Octagon' is a collaborative project which celebrates the original compositions of profound Pianist and composer Neil Sagewood. Combining a passion for Latin rhythm and melody with the delicacies of jazz, the project reinvents songs which have been written over the past 35 years on Neil's journey around the world as a musician.
Neils compositions are energised with the exceptional grooves laid down by drumming extraordinaire Ben Walsh and rock steady bassist Charlotte Sagewood of whom bring their innovation, versatility and vast experiences as world travelling musicians to the creative process.
Octagon, the album, offers an authentic sound to its listeners. Neil plays a rare and amazing Australian Beale grand piano that is one of a kind and gives a unique sustain like no other due to the "Beale-Vader tuning system". This beautiful instrument is the centrepiece of a self-built wooden octagonal studio where the album was recorded over 5 days.
The Octagon project delivers dynamic live performances which convey the fun, playful, tender and deeply reminiscent qualities of Neil's stunning compositions to audiences throughout Australia.
