Ta Go Lak

Ta Go Lak’s high-energy percussive music explores improvisational areas that emerge in response to Korean folk and shamanic traditions and rhythmic textures found in the Pacific.

Traversing the full sound and energy spectrum from meditative elements to resounding gongs and explosive climaxes, Ta Go Lak contrast traditional folk instruments with full modern drumkits.

Recent performances include concerts at Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).

NAPOLOGY

“electrifying one’s nervous system” – Sydney Morning Herald

MaryRapp

Led by cellist, bassist and vocalist Mary Rapp, Napology combines brute strength, jazz virtuosity, rock emotion and noisy catharsis.

Drawing upon influences from D’Angelo’s Voodoo to Alas No Axis, Bill Frisell and Miles Davis, their live shows are known for intense sonic landscapes of the Radiohead ilk, the rhythmic bombast of Squarepusher or Caetano Veloso, and the harmonic depth and improvisational freedom of a Keith Jarrett concert.

Mary is a multidisciplinary musician who has gained wide acclaim for her distinctive approach integrating jazz, experimental, classical, and regional music traditions.

Her work as both performer and composer has been featured by Ensemble Offspring and the Australian Art Orchestra, and she has performed as part of the Sydney Festival, at the Sydney Opera House and internationally.
