The Economic Society of Australia Young Professionals is pleased to present our final breakfast event for 2017- Reliable and sustainable: the challenges of transitioning to renewable energy.

As Australia transitions to greater use of variable renewable energy, more care needs to be taken to manage system security and reliability of energy supplies. The right policy settings need to be in place to allow these concerns to be addressed - but what is the best way forward?

At this ESA Young Professionals breakfast, we are fortunate to welcome Chloe Munro, who has vast experience in public policy and the energy sector to provide insight into what Australia's energy future looks like, as well as providing reflections on broader trends in policy and on her career.

Most recently Chloe was a panel member for the Independent ('Finkel') Review into the Future Security of the National Electricity Market. Now an independent consultant, Chloe has recently been appointed as the Chair of the Australian Energy Market Operator's Expert Panel.

Chloe came to Australia in 1996 to lead Victoria's energy reform and privatisation program. Since then she has worked widely in infrastructure, natural resources and climate change. She held two successive departmental Secretary positions in Victoria, was the Chair of the National Water Commission, and served five years as the inaugural Chair of the Clean Energy Regulator, which administers Australia's principal climate change policies.

Her private sector career traversed the printing and finance industries in the UK, telecommunications in Australia, and a number of non-executive positions in energy and water.

She is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and holds master's degrees in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Cambridge and in business administration from Westminster University.

We hope you can join Chloe and the ESA Young Professionals, for what is sure to be an engaging breakfast discussion.
