"Duet" - Violin & Cello - Spring Sunset Soirée Recital

Enjoy a 60 minute chamber music recital by two of Australia's top virtuosos (read their bios below!). Afterwards, enjoy your favourite BYO tipple, and canapés, whilst watching the beautiful spring sunset and have the opportunity to speak with the musicians. 

You might be surprised by the incredible range these two instruments can achieve. From Baroque and Classical to Romantic and 20th-century music and beyond, this program offers a fresh and intimate perspective on chamber music. You'll experience the charm of early string quartets by Joseph Haydn and the almost orchestral richness of Kodály. This is a unique opportunity to witness the violin and the cello—Australia's favourite instrument—showcasing their peak capabilities in a program designed to deliver sincere musical elation.

This concert is brought to you by Pelican Cafe and Southern Cross Soloists, “One of Queensland’s foremost chamber ensembles." - Dr Gemma Regan (Limelight, June 2025) - celebrating their 30th Pearl Anniversary this year.

Canapés to be served: 

  • Double brie, dried granny smith apple and fig chutney on crusty baguette, finished with a drizzle of Mount Alford honey & fresh rosemary (v)
  • Whipped eggplant, crumbled goat's fetta, smoky paprika on pumpernickel (v)
  • Trio selection of cucumber wheels (3 flavours) - sundried tomato & mixed herb whipped fetta (gf), spicy Thai style beef with fresh coriander (gf), Japanese style salmon with sesame dressing, toragashi, kewpie mayonnaise, black sesame
  • Wild mushroom and three cheese arancini, baby arugula, house truffle and black pepper hollandaise
  • Mini fish and chip boat - freshly battered cod, chips, served with lemon wedge
  • Mini tartlet with lemon curd, house meringue, raspberry
  • Milk chocolate dipped strawberries, white chocolate drizzle (gf)
