The Jazz Sessions transforms one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular Breweries into an intimate jazz club.  After lockdown and the cancellation of some shows, we will be combining two shows in one night for a spectacular night of jazz on Sunday 22nd Aug.

Prepare to spend a night listening to jazz music performed by one of the most talented jazz ensembles in Queensland. Top local jazz musicians Robyn Brown, Marnix van Bruggen, Peter Walters and Max Sportelli present a Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald for the first part of the evening

Ella Fitzgerald was arguably the greatest female jazz singer the world has known. Dubbed “The First Lady of Song”, she had a career that spanned over 50 years.Her rich, lyrical voice, her innate musicality which allowed her to swing with the band and improvise solos just like her instrument-playing counterparts, and her joy in performance was an inspiration to every jazz singer that has followed behind her.  Enjoy the songs and stories of one of the most influential and acclaimed figures in the world of jazz

After that you will be part of the first ever Jazz Sessions Jam Session. With a house band leading the night, jazz musicians will be able to come along and join in for a ‘jam’.

If you’ve never experienced a jazz jam before, you will see jazz musicians in their element, improvising and responding to each other on the spot.You’ll witness musicians coming together and communicating sensitively and fluently, speaking the same language but never having met before. It’s thrilling to see and it’s a trait specific to jazz that is incredibly special.
