We are so excited to announce the second Sunshine Coast Latin Dance Festival celebrating Latin dancing at its very best. The three-day community event goes from Friday, 11 to Sunday, 13 May 2018.

The Sunshine Coast Latin Dance Festival is in honour of a beautiful soul and fellow Latin dancer, Kari-Lee Birrell (nee Venning). 4 years ago we lost this angel to Cystic Fibrosis. In honour of Kari-Lee together with Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and Kari-Lee’s parents our goal is to raise funds for the 55 people and their families who live with Cystic Fibrosis on the Sunshine Coast. 

2018 Festival outline:

• Friday, 11 May - Samba Immersion Workshops on Friday (additional entry fee) 
• Friday Night, 11 May – “Latin Dance Party"
• Saturday, 12 May - 2018 Australasian Samba Queen Competition on Saturday  
• Saturday, 12 May – Latin dance workshops (20 workshops approx) taught by World and Australia’s renowned Dance Instructors
• Saturday Night, 12 May – “Gala Charity Dinner and Stage Show Ball”, cabaret style seating and world class Latin Dance Showcase, followed by a dance party to continue the night away. Plus, lots of little surprises during the night.
• Sunday, 13 May – Mother's Day Beach Party with Latin food and loads of fun installed

2018 AUSTRALASIAN SAMBA QUEEN COMPETITION

The Sunshine Coast Latin Dance Festival is proud to be this years hosts of the 2018 Australasian Samba Queen Competition.

This competition brings dedicated samba dancers from New Zealand, Singapore and around the country to the sunny shores of the Sunshine Coast in a competition set to challenge, excite and surprise spectators and participants alike.

After hundred of hours of practice and wearing up to 20kg of intricate colourful costumes, these amazing ladies leave it all on the dance floor as they present elaborate, complex fast paced performances that celebrate and respect Brazilian culture.

Be sure to see the best in the Australia battle it out for the coveted Australasian Samba Queen Crown!
