“This Is War” is the first single from Pete Ross & The Sapphire's fourth studio album and will be unveiled at their return to Django Bar in Marrickville on April 3.

Special guests are Hovering Spooks (ex-Saints, Sunnyboys, The Aints, Celibate Rifles, and New Christs members.

“This Is War” is Pete Ross & The Sapphire’s first recording in more than five years and reflects on the state of the world, asking: “Is this how it's meant to be?”

“In these tumultuous times, it’s essential to channel our emotions into something meaningful,” says Pete Ross. `’We hope this song will inspire listeners to think about the world we live in and the role we play in shaping it"

Pete Ross & The Sapphire recently relocated to Sydney after a decade in Europe and have taken a new approach to their music, incorporating a more roots, rocking feel.

The addition of new band members, guitarist Matt Allison (Spurs For Jesus) and drummer Lisa Mosse has brought a fresh energy to the group.

The band played Django in 2024 in support of guitar legend Charlie Owen and is fast building a reputation for their swampy and dark country blues sets.

“A class band with a terrific batch of songs and brilliant players, with songs recalling Gram Parsons and The Band. This band is a hidden secret playing around Sydney at the moment” - Edwin Garland www.i94bar.com

Hovering Spooks are a new-ish combo of some of the most experienced players on the Sydney scene in ex-Saints and Ed Kuepper band member Cub Calloway, former Sunnyboys guitarist Richard Burgman, bassist Phil Hall (Dropbears, Sardine V, John Kennedy and The New Oriignals) and drummer Paul Larsen (Celibate Rifles, New Christs and The Aints).
