The Stavely Arc Uncovered
A new Australian mineral exploration search space

Day one: Technical presentations and interactive demonstrations
Day two: Visit to drill core library to view pre-competitive drill core

This free event will explore exciting new geological concepts and findings resulting from pre-competitive work undertaken on the Stavely Arc by the Geological Survey of Victoria and Geoscience Australia.

Through a series of technical presentations and interactive demonstrations we will discuss mineral prospectivity in Stavely Arc rocks. The event aims to provide a geological narrative for current and future mineral explorers to develop effective mineral exploration strategies in what is a genuine greenfields mineral exploration opportunity.

Following the technical program, the Geological Survey of Victoria will display stratigraphic and mineralised drill core samples from the Stavely Arc at its drill core library.

Highlights will include:

  • Developing a geodynamic evolution of the Stavely Arc
  • Understanding the arrangement of rocks through a presentation of the new regional 3D model
  • Applying structural restoration to remove the effects of post-mineralisation deformation
  • Determining petrogenesis and mineral prospectivity of rocks using geochemical techniques
  • Assessing mineral potential and key ingredients in the mineral systems framework
  • Understanding the cover units with respect to mineral system preservation potential
  • Exploring for minerals under cover with geophysics
  • Identifying opportunities for new discoveries through legacy mineral exploration data
