Join The Pet Oncologist for a one-day, hands-on chemotherapy workshop in Brisbane. Limited to 10 vets & 5 nurses, this workshop will empower you with the skills & insights required to safely administer oral & injectable chemotherapy.

This includes guidance on preparation, handling, storage, transport, disposal, and dispensing of chemotherapy. 


The morning session will commence with engaging presentations, followed by an afternoon of hands-on practice on dummy dog venipuncture leg models & live dogs. Supplier insights, addressing attendee learning interests, & advanced chemotherapy techniques such as intracavitary chemotherapy, will also be covered. You will leave with comprehensive chemotherapy equipment & resources, allowing you to readily implement what you've learned right away!


At the end of the workshop, you will leave with comprehensive equipment and resources, allowing you to readily implement what you've learned right away! Additionally, you will continue to receive remote support from Dr. Catherine Chan through The Pet Oncologist.


Key Workshop Highlights:

Hands-on Experience: Practical training in administering injectable chemotherapy utilising 2 common closed-system transfer devices: Equashield® and PhaSeal For ethical considerations, dogs will receive saline instead of chemotherapy. This experience will provide you with practical skills in administering injectable chemotherapy.

Comprehensive Chemotherapy Starter Kits: Receive essential equipment for safe chemotherapy administration, including a chemotherapy tray, Equashield® equipment & consumables for at least 5 treatments, PPE, an extravasation kit, a cytotoxic spill kit, signage, cytotoxic bags, cytotoxic stickers & a cytotoxic bin, etc. This comprehensive starter kit will instil confidence in safely implementing chemotherapy in your practice.

Exclusive Resources: Access training manuals, 96 chemotherapy drug information sheets (valued over $1,500), supplier information, & other resources exclusively available to workshop participants.

Post-workshop Support: Real-time Zoom guidance & support available for your first chemotherapy treatment. We can check your set-up, help source chemotherapy drugs or consumables, & provide cancer case consultation & advice.

The Hilton Hotel, Brisbane | 190 Elizabeth St, Brisbane City QLD 4000.

Centrally located in the heart of the city, on vibrant Queen Street Mall, Hilton Brisbane features modern accommodations, award-winning dining, newly refurbished leisure facilities and 2500 sqm purpose-built spaces designed specifically for meetings and events.

'The Pet Oncologist Chemotherapy Workshop' will be held in the 'Samford Room' on level 5 of The Hilton.

PARKING:

Located on Queen Street Mall, the Hilton is situated in the Brisbane CBD, with easy access to public transport facilities, including buses, trains & ferries.

Parking is available in the Wintergarden, which is within the hotel complex, at a competitive price. 

Secure Parking offers direct access to the hotel on levels 5 or 6.


INTERNET:

Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available from 6 am to 7 pm on the day of the workshop. Details will be provided to delegates on the day of the workshop.

REGISTRATION:

Registration, tea, and coffee are available between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.

The workshop will commence at 8:30 a.m. We will confirm your barrister coffer order so you can enjoy your hot beverage during the first presentation.

The registration desk is located in the 'Samford Room' foyer on level 5.

Please ask hotel staff for directions and mention you are registering for 'The Pet Oncologist Chemotherapy Workshop'.

Please wear your name tag throughout the workshop. It will provide you access to the workshop, refreshments, and lunch.


DRESS CODE:

The dress code for the workshop delegates is casual.

This is a hands-on practical workshop with dog dummy legs and live dogs. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.


FEEDBACK SURVEY:

After the workshop, complete a survey on your workshop experience. You will then be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of two complimentary initial consultations for one of your oncology cases, valued at $280.

The draw closes 7 days after the workshop, and the winner will be announced via email on the same day (i.e. Saturday, 22nd June 2024).


VET NURSE TICKETS:

To help reduce costs for vet nurses, vets can bring along a vet nurse to assist in hands-on practice on live dogs, and we can reduce the ticket cost for the vet nurse to $700, which is 28% of the original ticket cost.

This exclusive offer is designed to reduce costs for vet nurses' participation while ensuring a high-quality learning experience for the whole team.

This vet nurse ticket includes full one-day workshop access, excluding take-home chemotherapy packs and manuals. However, one pack will be supplied to the vet hospital.


OTHER:

Catering, a CPD certificate (14 CPD points), large take-home chemotherapy packs, equipment, and resources will be provided to all attendees.

For those travelling interstate, please ensure you request check-in for a 23 kg luggage allowance.

Refund Policy

Refunds up to 14 days before the event, Event cancellation: Full refund for all ticket holders. 14-day notice before the event: Full refund, minus a $100 admin fee. Less than 14 days' notice of the event: 50% fee. Refer to the 'ticket refund policy' for further information.
