PJ O’Brien knows how to get a Blues party started!  On his latest release ‘High Cost’, Sydney Blues & Roots performer PJ O’Brien continues to hone an original, singular style that seamlessly blends his dynamic blues guitar with cleverly crafted blues & roots songwriting. Exuding a retro & modern feel, PJ’s blend of vintage & contemporary blues & roots influences have created a diverse repertoire that is uniquely his own.

PJ's last two all-original releases both debuted at #1 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart & his most recent album ‘High Cost’ is still in the top 20 after 12 months. To date ‘High Cost’ has earned a 2023 Sydney Blues Society Song Of The Year Award (Cash), an Honourable Mention in the final of the Unsigned Only Music Competition USA & another finals berth in the 2023 International Song Contest USA, as well as receiving fantastic reviews in Australia, the UK & the US, as well as regular airplay in Australia, Europe & the US. 

PJ's music has featured in Blues Revue (USA), Blues Blast (USA), Blues Matters (UK), Classic Rock's 'Blues' (UK), Rhythms (AUS) FHM (AUS) & Australian Guitar Magazine.

PJ has twice represented the Sydney Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, most recently in 2017 where he reached the semi-finals from a field of 120+ US & International acts.

PJ is a regualr performer at Australia's premier Blues festivals incl. Blues at Bridgetown (WA), Great Southern Blues Festival (NSW), Thredbo Blues Festival (NSW) Gympie Muster (QLD), Darling Harbour Jazz & Blues Festival (NSW), Blues on Broadbeach (QLD), Echuca Winter Blues Festival (VIC) & the Australian Blues Music Festival (NSW).
