Stride & Slide (supporting Big Freeze Newcastle)

STRIDE & SLIDE supporting Big Freeze Newcastle 2018

Saturday 23rd June, 2-6pm

The Big Freeze Newcastle is all about raising funds to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease, along with building awareness and having fun at the same time!

Around 20 local personalities have committed to sliding into a giant pool of ice water, each raising at least $5000 to help #FightMND.

A number of this year's sliders are proud members of the Newcastle running community and as a way to support them and the whole event, this year we're holding a special group running event in conjunction with Big Freeze Newcastle.

A relaxed pace, group run (~5-10km), including sliders and supporters will start from the Newy parkrun start line in Carrington, heading over to No1 Sportsground to cheer on the sliders, before running back to finish at the Carrington Bowling Club to enjoy a refreshment plus toast the sliders and all the wonderful supporters/organisers of the event.

Schedule (Sat 23rd June):

2pm - meet at Newy parkrun start area (1 Arnold St, Carrington)
2:15pm - Run part 1 starts
2:45pm Arrive at No1 Sportsground
3pm - First Slider introduced and hits the ice!
3:40pm - Final Slider hits the ice!
3:45pm - Run part 2 starts
4:15pm - Arrive Carrington Bowling Club to rehydrate
