Soul Sangeet is a confluence of classically trained musicians based on Indian Raga and Rhythm with a depth of knowledge and cultural understanding that has been passed down from generation to generation.
“Sangeet is sound or music in Sanksrit and follows a deep belief of spirit in sound”. Sangeet Mishra is an 8th generation sarangi player from Benares and is a fast rising name across India, Australia and the globe. Joining him on stage for the first time is the talented local Shivam Rath, having studied as a child with his father and from his Indian teachers in Varanassi & Calcatta (Including World Renowned Slide Guitarist Debashish Battacharia) Shivam has adopted the use of the 22 string fusion Slide guitar with a Himalayan Crystal Ball for added grace and tone.
Accompanying on percussion is Australia’s senior Tabla Wallah Shen Flindell from Brisbane and major exponent of bringing Indian music to Australian shores, having toured and hosted Sangeet Mishra many times before.
They will be each performing a traditional Raga or Tala (Rhythm) set to the time of day and season. Each artist will be performing a solo followed by a collective finale ensemble.
All three artists have been touring nationally and internationally and are guarantee to take you on a mystical musical journey.
Be prepared for rhythm and melody at its finest degree!
