WHY THE BLOKEHOOD PROJECT continued....
Young men are renown for…
Its immediately clear that something is being severely unacknowledged when it comes to young men. Its time we take 100% responsibility to support these young men, and give them what they NEED.
Young men are hugely misunderstood – at a time where major physical & hormonal changes are occurring, and significant neurological construction is taking place up until they are 25 – they are expected and told to just “BE A MAN.” This is one of the most catastrophic statements that can be made to a young man’s life. When you ask yourself the question “WHAT IS A MAN?” – it’s a question that will be poorly answered time and time again. BE A MAN is fuelled my historical beliefs and stigmas of masculinity – DON’T BE A PUSSY, BIG BOYS DON’T CRY, AUSSIE BATTLER and CHIN UP.
Young men are struggling, suffering and hurting as they stumble into manhood – attempting to become some misinterpreted illusion of what they believe, a man could be.
There behaviours and actions are a result of how much they truly are suffering. Men once learnt their role in their tribe and community through initiations, learning closely from fathers, grandfathers and other elders. There PURPOSE and CLARITY was clear. Men did this or they were exiled or simply didn’t survive. Man’s traditional role was to provide an income and put food on the table. This role meant long hours absent from family’s – ‘parenting’ became a mother’s role – while young men usually learnt from their father by watching what they did, more so than their fathers ‘parenting’ them. Men haven’t necessarily been brought up and learnt how to support other young men. We simply watch and learn from each other. Unfortunately – not to blame – tho many young men’s fathers spend more time working, or absent all together. Modern society has since changed dramatically and extremely quickly. Family roles and dynamics have completely shifted like single parenting and both parents working, young men simply are confused and overwhelmed watching on, learning from all sorts of influences. Trying their best to figure it out.
The Blokehood Project was created to reinvent the support for young men, and give them the clarity they need in their life, and the clarity in becoming a man. Men learn too late 1) What the purpose of life is – and 2) Who they need to be in it. It leaves young men confused and overwhelmed - when we lose who we are and our purpose in life – we lose our identity, we lose our way, and unfortunately men who haven’t been educated better – lose their lives.
The uniqueness of this program means its hands on – face to face and in full support with other men in a safe controlled environment. Immersed into the work every week. But slow enough to sit with and process the information and practice the tools each week. Whoever you are, whatever journey you are on – on this journey you will leave with a brotherhood of support. Connected for the rest of your life. Providing young men a new kind of support, tribe and family. A conscious brotherhood for men to continue to expand, grow and be supported in.
