As with last year it will be an informative day here at the Landcare office dedicated to everything Acacia. Come along and hear some of our local experts in Acacias discussing some of the medicinal and ecological benefits of our symbolically significant flowering Wattles.

Summary of the one-day workshop – Wattle Day - Acacia

  • Introducing Acacias as the largest genus of vascular plants in Australia over 1100 species
  • Their importance to insect pollinators
  • Their importance as a food source for animals
  • Traditional uses Aboriginals for food, and fibrous material
  • Ability to fix nitrogen from the atmosphere
  • Acacias as a pioneer species in restoration and regeneration efforts
