Throughout the industrialised world, we're facing increasingly toxic mainstream food production and distribution systems. From government corruption to corporate control of markets and regulation - transforming food systems can seem extremely difficult. Join us for a fascinating evening of talks that shed light on how 'mainstream' food systems are being (mis)managed and what ordinary people can do to challenge these toxic systems.

5pm - Bar open. Drinks available for purchase.

6pm - A hearty soup and crusty bread will be served by Food Connect

6pm - Jonathan Latham PhD, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project, New York, will provide a fascinating talk about the global environmental and social problems caused by the industrial food system, with a particular focus on the control that corporations and governments have on the US food system, and what's being done to challenge it.

6.30pm - Response by Emma-Kate Rose and Rob Pekin, Food Connect

6.45pm - Response by Dr Michelle Maloney, who will give an overview of the 2018 Peoples Tribunal for the Rights of Nature Australia, which is focusing on the impacts of industrial food systems on the living world and Rights of Nature (27 October 2018, Brisbane).
