Following the release of his critically acclaimed fourth solo album Bedsit, Jamie Hutchings returns to the live arena with three shows across three states in late October/early November.

Careering Through The Bedsit will see Hutchings perform two sets - the first will consist of older by request material (punters can offer their suggestions via Jamie’s Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JamieHutchingsMusic or his website http://www.jamiehutchings.com) the second set will feature highlights from Bedsit and beyond.

To celebrate the run Hutchings is releasing a digital EP entitled Other Rooms. The EP features the track It’s On Me, a dialogue between a returned-soldier-turned-cab driver and an impoverished young bride. The other four tracks are previously unreleased and taken from the same sessions that spawned Bedsit. It will be available on Jamie’s Bandcamp http://www.jamiehutchings.bandcamp as well as all other digital stores and streaming services by mid September.

Earlier in the year Hutchings performed around Australia in support of Bedsit, including sold out shows in Sydney and Brisbane. Careering Through The Bedsit will be the first batch of solo shows Jamie since, and a return to native shores following a festival run in France with two of his other acts Infinity Broke and The Tall Grass. Don’t miss it!

PRAISE FOR BEDSIT

“'Bedsit is a challenging listen, as fragile and introspective as it is darkly humorous, but those who invest the time in unpacking its intricacies will be richly rewarded.'”

Daniel Johnson - The Courier Mail

“'That simplicity gives the impression of less effort melodically and musically that a full band or busily arranged collection would. But it’s far from the truth: these are songs which carry their own heft, seduce with gracefully attractive tunes, and stay with you. Stay with you hard. Hutchings has played in several bands of note, to reasonable success – the fierce and flexible Blue Bottle Kiss, Infinity Broke (with Wills, brother Scott Hutchings and BBK member Jared Harrison), The Tall Grass (with Peter Fenton, of Crow) - but to my mind he is at his best in solo mode, and has rarely been better than here.'”

Bernard Zuel - Bernardzuel.net

“'References to dreams, seasons and nature abound, framing existential questions and the foibles of human relationships. Centennial Park and Marrickville get name-checked and it feels very much like a Sydney album, albeit a reflective, introspective and intensely personal one from the melancholic side of town. '”

Chris Familton - The Music

“'Opener Second Winter acts as a good litmus test: if you're entranced by a seven-minute song that begins with a Kafkaesque short story, then you're definitely in the headspace for what's to come. It's a gorgeously intimate work, with Hutchings's voice cracking with emotion and blue notes in what sounds like a series of first takes...'”

Andrew P Street - The Australian

Jamie Hutchings is a singer/songwriter/guitarist and sometime producer. He began his career as the frontman for much loved underground favourites Bluebottle Kiss in the 1990’s through to the noughties. The group released six acclaimed albums and toured many times around Australia as well as North America and the UK where some of their material was also released. Of the band, All Music in the US said “…this is challenging, rugged, dramatic rock with folk tendencies woven intricately into its coarse fabric.” He has released four solo albums, two albums with the percussion heavy quartet Infinity Broke as well as a recent album in collaboration with Peter Fenton called The Tall Grass. A frequent live performer, Hutchings’ music has seen him tour throughout Europe numerous times, North America and even China. His production work has involved artists such as Peabody, The Maladies and Mark Moldre and he has guested and collaborated with artists such as Paul Dempsey and Peter Garrett. His other interests include literature, surfing and wine. He is quite messy and cooks poorly.
