Event Details

These January holidays, the art classes will run adjacent to the Front Window Art Project so that children can participate in building the display (if interested). This January’s theme is the beach.

The class focus for each week is as follows:

Week one: 3D Art. Building the giant sandcastle, the details of the shells’ decorations, the flying birds overhead. The giant wave threatening to wash away the sandcastle.

Related instruction will be in hand building creatures in air-dry clay, playing with textures, using molds, origami, designing and building with card and tape.

Week two: The Shop Window beach's background will have Japanese-art inspired waves, patterns done through geli printing, and we will do a giant collage backdrop, gluing the individual textures together.

Related instruction will be in colour theory, geli printing with stencils, charcoal and lace, painting, gluing, collage and mixed media

Week three: is about details. The shimmer of water, the sparkily sun. Do we need crabs and other creatures? Assessing what else needs to be added.

Related instruction will be in juxtaposing colours to make them sparkle, mixed media with aluminium and beads, beadwork, exploring details. creating hangings

.... The program has the flexibility so that if your child just wants to paint their favourite topic or explore their favourite colour, that is ok too.

Please bring whatever food (nut free) and drink your child requires. Alternatively you can arrange catering with Left Field Cafe which is located across the road from Art Lark.
