Event Details

Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. This year it falls on November 7th. An auspicious day for many Indians and one of celebration, food, music and color.

We welcome you to the last Cooking and Storytelling of the year and we promise that it will be special. We will be celebrating in full Bollywood style, with music, light, Indian Chai (vegan) and Indian sweets for desert.

Tina's mum, Namita will be our cook for the day. Namita migrated to Australia in 1985 with no English speaking skills. Her resilience, her faith and her courage is inspiring. We will talk about Namita's story and honor her journey through spoken word and food.

We will be making a couple of vegan Indian street food dishes (TBC). Half of the proceeds will be directed to RAW Garden and the other half to "Be the Light" to help girls in India at risk of sex trafficking.
