A Day in the Life of an Embalmer

This fascinating talk is not for the fainthearted, or people under the age of 18 years.

Jan Field, professional embalmer, will talk through all your burning questions about the embalming process - questions such as:

  • What does embalming entail?
  • What are the procedures?
  • Can anyone be embalmed?
  • How long is the process?
  • How did she decide that she wanted to be an embalmer?
  • Has she ever felt/seen anything paranormal while tending to dead bodies?

Jan Field started her career in her early 20's as a embalmer in Adelaide and now lives in New South Wales.

Today she is the Director, Australasia & Pacific Rim of Blake Emergency Services. She is very experienced in preparing bodies for burial and her career includes travelling throughout the world to assist in crisis situations. She has worked in the aftermath of plane crashes, tsunami's and war.
